Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep
Bighorn’s are without a doubt
one of the worlds most sought after trophy animals.
Our Bighorn Sheep population is one
of the best in the region. The full curl minimum size limit insures
a continuous supply of mature rams. |
| We
are also fortunate to have an area full of sheep country. Whether
it is early or late in the season our guides know the sheep and where
to find them.
Bighorns are one of the more elusive
animals to find. Once you get to the height of land you can expect
to spend your days glassing the alpine basins for rams |

Our Bighorn hunts
are booked well in advance. If you are considering a hunt you may
want to click here to contact us, or fill out a hunt request. |
| Many
of our Bighorns are taken on backpack hunts spanning several days,
while others are taken on day-hikes. These hunts are physically demanding.
There is no way to get to a Bighorn without hoofing it up the Rockies. See our tips on preparation for more on getting
ready for the hunt..
Spotting these animals can be a challenge,
so be sure your binoculars are up to the task. Bighorn hunters are
the ones who frequently go the distance for the little extra clarity
offered by Zeiss or Swarovski optics. |

It is a strange quirk of physics
that the 60 lb. pack you return with, can feel lighter than the 30
lb. pack you lugged in? Bighorns are noted for making that heavy pack
a pleasure to carry. Although our guides are more than happy to pack
the lions share, many hunters consider it a privilege to haul their
sheep out on their own.
Speaking of backpacks, you may want
to check out our back packing list for
ideas on what to bring. |
