The Hunt: Your adventure with Whiteswan Lake Outfitters:

Upon your arrival in Cranbrook you will be picked up at the airport and taken to your hotel. You are free to explore Cranbrook until the morning of the first day of the hunt when your Guide takes charge of you. After an early breakfast it’s off to the rifle range to sight in your rifle. (You may have already done this if you arrived a day or so prior to the beginning of the hunt.) After sighting in your rifle it’s off to the mountains.

You will travel by truck for about 120 km (60 miles), then you will either stay at our Base Camp or you will continue on to our 2nd camp via horse back. You will arrive at Base Camp around noon, in time for a hearty meal. Whiteswan Lake Outfitters is famous for our excellent meals.

If you are staying at Base Camp, you will be shown to your accommodations and you may get in an afternoon hunt, if you are on the first hunt, you may go with your guide to scout in preparation for the start of hunting season on the morning of Sept. l0th.

If you are going on to Base Camp Two (Bottom Camp), horses will be ready to transport you and your gear on the remaining six km (2 1/2 miles). Then served a hot supper, depending on the time you may get in an evening hunt.

From here you may head up to our Base Camp Three( Top Camp) This is a 3 hour back country horse ride in which you will hunt on the way up to camp. If you are hunting from one of our Spike camps you will either travel by truck, horse or foot during your hunt.

We stress that you be well equipped and in as good physical condition as you can. It will make your hunt more fun and your chance of getting a trophy much easier. Climb stairs, hike with a pack, and do whatever you can to get yourself into condition. We use horses, so if you don’t ride, practice now. See Preparation for more on getting ready.

You will be hunting with your guide in some of the most beautiful country in British Columbia. The air and water are pure and unpolluted so enjoy this pristine wilderness.

Your guide will prepare your trophies for your taxidermist or if you wish you can leave them to be mounted and shipped later. The meat from your hunt will be transported to town to be cut, wrapped and sharp frozen so you can take it home with you.

Game

We are fortunate enough to have an excellent selection of big game animals. Here is where you can see some examples and get more information.

Packages

These are our most popular packages. Pick the one that suits your hunting party, or contact us for special arrangements. All prices are in US dollars.

Preparation

A guided hunt costs both time and money. This section is dedicated to helping clients get the most out of their hunt. There is nothing worse than cold, blistered feet squashed into impractical footwear, or garbage bags for raingear. The better prepared you are, the easier it is for us to make your hunt enjoyable.
